During the Masses held at Our Lady of the Lake on Saturday, December 9th and Sunday, December 10th, parishioners were presented with information about the upcoming 2024 restoration project for Our Lady of the Lake. This initiative aims to address infrastructure issues on the south side of the church and the bell tower.
The church's aging structure, coupled with its proximity to a busy highway, subjecting it to constant vibrations from heavy trucks and seasonal exposure to de-icing chemicals, has led to an accelerated deterioration of the stone. Weathering of stone surfaces, deep cracking, and loss of portions of the stones (as depicted in the photos) have resulted in significant damage over time. The restoration project will involve patching and replacement of damaged stone and bricks, removal and replacement of caulking sealant, and other related work.
Funding for the project will be sourced from grants, unutilized funds, and generous contributions. The estimated cost, including a contingency for unforeseen expenses, is approximately $420,000.
If you were unable to attend the Masses with the video presentation, a PDF file containing the discussed information and the proposed masonry repair budget is available below.
We encourage you to reflect prayerfully on how you can contribute to addressing the challenges of maintaining our aging facilities. Our commitment to this endeavor ensures a lasting legacy for future generations of our Catholic Faith.
