Father Andre Schludecker, OFM. died on Friday, September 30th, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, at the age of 86. He served Our Lady of the Lake (formerly Saint Agnes) from 1979-1986. He most recently served over sixteen years as chaplain of the Franciscan Sisters in Springfield, Illinois. He retired in 2020 and moved to Blessed Giles Friary in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. A Mass of Resurrection was held Thursday, October 6th, at the Calvary Cemetery Chapel in Manitowoc. He was buried in the friars’ plot at Calvary Cemetery. His favorite saying was “Peace and everything good.”
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and all souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen

Father Jerome has left to visit his parents and family. It has been nearly four years since he visited them. He will return to Ashland Tuesday, November 29th. Please pray for his safe travel and an enjoyable time with his family. During Father Jerome’s absence we will welcome a retired priest from the Diocese of Superior, Father Barg Anderson, also known as Father Andy. Father Andy will stay in the Pastor’s Residence and will take care of Masses and attend to our community’s spiritual needs. This year November 1—the Solemnity of All Saints— falls on a Tuesday and is celebrated as a holy day of obligation in the dioceses of the United States. The Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls’ Day) takes place on the following day, Wednesday, November 2.

Scout Troop 342 Wreath Sale 2022
Scouts from Our Lady of the Lake will be available to take orders for Christmas wreaths and garland after Masses at Our Lady of the Lake on the weekends of October 29th- 30th.
Traditional wreaths are available in sizes ranging from 18 inches to 60 inches. Wreaths can also be ordered in the shape of hearts, candy canes and crosses. Garland roping is available in 25 foot lengths.
Prices start as low as $25. Delivery of wreaths is expected the week of November 21st, just in time for the beginning of the holiday seasons.

Our Lady of the Lake will host their annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 24th, serving a delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm in the Social Hall. At this time we are looking for volunteers to assist in preparation for the dinner, serving the dinner and clean-up. We are also looking for donations of homemade cookies.

It is with sadness that we say farewell to Nick Urinko as he returns to UW-Superior this fall to continue studies in the field of business. Nick has worked with the Maintenance Team for Our Lady of the Lake Church and School for over seven years. He has been an indispensable member of the team, always working with a cheerful heart and giving hands. His dependability and commitment to our parish and school are irreplaceable. As Nick continues his undergraduate degree he will pursue work in business to compliment his education.
Religious Education will start for students in Grades 1 - 12 from St. Florian (Ino) and Ss. Peter & Paul (Moquah). will start on Wednesday, September 7th, 5:00 - 6:30 pm. They will continue Wednesdays for the months of September and October.
